Vaccinations at the clinic
I give vaccines following the schedule recommended by the Indian Academy of Pediatrics, which builds on the national immunisation programme and World Health Organization guidance. At each vaccine visit I check your child’s growth, answer your questions and explain what to expect afterwards. Mild fever and soreness are common for a day or two; my post on fever after vaccination explains when paracetamol helps.
Well-child check-ups
Regular check-ups are not only for when a child is unwell. They are a chance to track growth, development, nutrition, sleep and behaviour, and to catch problems early. The American Academy of Pediatrics guide to well-child visits explains why these visits matter. I usually see babies with their vaccine visits in the first two years, and older children once a year or as needed. Bring along your questions about sleep, feeding, screen time or behaviour; no question is too small.
When to go to an emergency instead
The clinic works by appointment in the evening, so please do not wait for clinic hours if your child has difficulty breathing, a seizure, is very drowsy, has blue lips or signs of severe dehydration, or if a baby under three months has a fever. Call 108 or go to the nearest emergency department, and let us know afterwards so that I can plan follow-up.
